Installing Products

Fast, clean and professional installation — with clear handover and user training. HMK fittings are made to be minimally invasive, tidy, and safe for everyday use.

Export vs. local installations

For export orders, installation is carried out by the buyer or an HMK Authorized Partner. HMK provides documentation, remote support, and optional on-site supervision/training. Timelines for export projects are set by the partner. For domestic projects, HMK teams handle end-to-end installation and training.

Clean handover (we vacuum & tidy) Installed to stairs/floors — not walls (where applicable) No structural damage User training before we leave

The HMK installation process

1) Free consultation

Tell us about your home, user needs and staircase/space. We advise on the best model and options.

2) Survey & measurements

A technician surveys the site and captures exact dimensions. For curved rails we create a made-to-measure layout.

3) Build & preparation

We assemble and test major components before arrival. Curved rails are custom-manufactured to fit perfectly.

4) Install, test & handover

On-site install is typically a few hours. We test safety functions and train you on all features. Clean, tidy finish.

On the day — what to expect

Fast installation

  • Many stairlift installs: ~2–4 hours on site.
  • Home lifts / platform lifts: usually same day install (model-dependent).
  • Minimal disruption; we coordinate any small pre-works if needed.

No structural damage

  • Stairlifts fix to stair treads, not walls.
  • Most solutions need only standard anchors/screws.
  • No chasing cables through walls unless requested.

Clean & safe

  • Installers arrive with protective covers and a vacuum.
  • Area is cleaned; packaging removed.
  • Full user training and safety briefing before sign-off.

Permits & approvals

Residential

In most homes, stairlifts and compact lifts do not require building permits because they do not alter structural elements. We still follow safety and electrical best practices.

Commercial / public

Some venues require prior coordination with facility management, HSE officers or local authorities. HMK provides risk assessments and method statements where needed.

Product-specific installation notes

Home Lifts (domestic)

  • Quiet, compact solutions without a deep pit or machine room.
  • Typical footprint from ~1 m²; exact size depends on model.

Relocation / re-install

  • Modular design enables dismantle and re-install at a new site.
  • Requires technical survey of the new location to preserve warranty.
  • Costs include dismantle, transport and re-installation (distance/conditions apply).

Pool Lift

  • Works with most pools: in-ground or above-ground with side platform.
  • Requires firm, non-slip base by the pool edge; tidy anchor or mobile base.
  • Electrical models: safe access to mains/charger; RCD/GFCI recommended.

Installation options

  • Fixed anchor with small, clean drill holes (no heavy demolition).
  • Mobile trolley base — zero drilling; ideal for rented/public pools.
  • Optional recessed sleeve for neat finish, where suitable.

Portable Ramps

No permanent install. Place, use, fold and store. Designed for frequent setup/pack-down.

Electric Floor Lift Chair

Plug & play. No drilling. Quick start with guide and tutorial video.

Installation FAQ

Do you bring cleaning equipment?

Yes. Our installers carry protective sheets and a vacuum to leave your home tidy.

Will you teach me how to use the product?

Absolutely. We provide hands-on training and do not leave until you are fully comfortable.

Do I need a permit?

Private homes usually require no formal permit. Public/commercial sites may need internal approvals — we’ll guide you.

How fast can you install?

Many domestic installs complete in hours. Curved stairlifts require a custom rail (manufacture a few weeks) then a rapid on-site fit. Export projects follow partner timelines.
