Top tips

  • If you are home alone, carry a mobile phone to alert others if you need help.
  • Keep your local HMK service number handy for emergencies.
  • Ask someone to be nearby if you’re troubleshooting for the first time.
  • If your stairlift stops on the stairs, stay seated and try to restart or summon assistance. If you must get off, do it slowly and with help.
I need help with my lift, what can I do?
Check power key and main switch. Ensure seat is down and locked, swivel locked to travel, and the path is clear. If unsure, contact HMK Support.
How do I reset a stairlift?
Turn off power for ~30 seconds, then turn it back on. Your settings should reset.
Will my stairlift work in a power cut?
Yes. It uses onboard batteries that recharge when parked. A full charge typically gives ~15–20 trips. If you have powered swivel, use the manual lever during an outage.

Quick troubleshooter

Lift won’t move

  • Power key ON, main switch ON; seat fully down and locked.
  • Swivel seat locked to travel position.
  • Footrest/track clear; safety edges not pressed.
  • Battery charging light on at park point?

Stopped mid-stairs

  • Stay seated. Try joystick again after 5–10 seconds.
  • Check any error code on display (note it for service).
  • Look for obstructions or activated safety edges.
  • Call for assistance if unsure.

Unusual noises

  • Stop and check for objects on the rail/footrest.
  • Confirm rail is clean and dry; wipe gently.
  • If noise persists, contact service—do not continue riding.
